The AI and cloud tools we build with run in data centers that use a lot of electricity. We think that makes it our job to give something back. So a portion of every Satsuma contract goes to [Project Drawdown](https://drawdown.org/), a nonprofit that works on climate solutions.

## Our work runs on energy. We would rather say so than pretend it doesn’t.

Every automation, AI assistant and dashboard we set up runs on servers somewhere, and AI tools in particular use a lot of power. That is part of the cost of doing this work, even when nobody sees it.

We can’t make that cost zero. What we can do is set aside part of what every client pays us for climate work, every time, without waiting to be asked.

Where the money goesTo Project Drawdown, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that researches which climate solutions work best and helps businesses, investors and governments put them to use.How muchA portion of every contract: the Review, every Build and every month of Run.Who pays for itWe do. ## Questions about our climate commitment.

### Why Project Drawdown?

It is an independent nonprofit focused on the science of which climate solutions do the most good, and on getting them used. We wanted our contribution to go toward real solutions, not a certificate.

### Is this the same as buying carbon offsets?

No. Offsets are credits you buy to cancel out a specific amount of emissions. We give to a nonprofit working on climate solutions instead, and we don’t claim it cancels out our own use.

### Does this cost clients anything extra?

No. It comes out of our share of every contract, not an added fee.
